Part Four

Engine Swap

The V-6 and TH250 was pulled out to make way for the V-8 and TH350. I figured that since I'd have to motor out I'd pretty up the engine bay. So I pulled off all of the sheet metal and core support and proceeded to clean. A pressure washer and a couple cans of degreaser did a pretty good job. After washing the frame I went over it with a wire wheel and brush then applied a coat of POR-15. This stuff looks great! and eliminates the chance of rust.

I had to drop the lower A-arm to remove the V-6 motor mounts and install the new V-8 motor mounts. While I had access I hoped to install my new springs, MOOG #5660 but they did not show up in time. The new motor and tranny drop in with very little effort every thing lined up and went in smooth. With some foresight on my part I places the headers between the frame rails before lowering the engine. This was a very good thing because once the motor was in there is very little clearance between the driver side header and the steering shaft.
