Part Three

Interior/Exterior

Like most twenty year old GM cars the interior was dried out and flaking off. The headliner was hanging down on my forehead and the vinyl bench seats, although in almost perfect condition, offered less than great support.

I was able to find a 83' 4 door Malibu in one of the local yards with a perfect interior. In another yard I found some suitable rear trim pieces out of an 80' Buick wagon. So after visiting two yards I had a complete interior minus the dash, but that's what the dash mat is for. The interior was brown and red, I wanted black so I rattle canned a couple coats of vinyl dye and it came out pretty good.

The front bench seat came out and in went 87' Pontiac Sunbird buckets. The outside mounting brackets for the bench swapped over to the buckets and then I just used the existing inside brackets and bolted them through the floor pan. The rear seat is from a 91' Pontiac Grand Am. The lower seat fits great but I'm not sure how to make the seat back mount yet.

The wheels are 76' Firebird ralley wheels I picked up at the junk yard as well as the 245/60/15 rear and 215/60/15 front tires.
